5 Qualifications for Leaders in the ChurchThe reason I left you in Crete was to complete what still needed to be done and to appoint elders in every city, as I myself commanded you.Acts 14:23; 1Cor 11:34; 2Tim 2:2 6 An elder must be ^{▼▼Lit. If anyone is} blameless. He must be the husband of one wife ^{▼▼Or devoted to his wife ; lit. a man of one woman} and have children who are believers and who are not accused of having wild lifestyles or of being rebellious.1Tim 3:2, 4, 12 7 Because an overseer is God's administrator, he must be blameless. He must not be arrogant or irritable.
